Job Summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT, or Portland, OR. As a key member of our T&D System Operations team, you will provide technical expertise in substation apparatus, protection, and control equipment or communications equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance to critical and complex substation, distribution, and transmission operation and control functions.
  • Develop and modify policies and practices to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Lead development and implementation of processes and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Evaluate policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with company safety procedures, legislative requirements, and NERC reliability standards.
  • Supervise local relay technicians, communication technicians, and substation journeymen, and develop and review daily and weekly schedules.
  • Analyze schemes and prints, and prepare field notebooks and outlines for substation equipment installation.
  • Work with engineers and operations staff to resolve system and design issues.
  • Provide training as needed for various departments.
  • Maintain project timelines and budgets.
  • Analyze and design engineering methods.
Requirements

The Senior Electrical Engineer position requires:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of five or more years of industry experience as a substation design engineer, substation maintenance engineer, or related field.
  • Knowledge of the power system.
  • Assessment skills, including problem diagnosis and identification of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future problems.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization, including people with different styles and backgrounds.
  • Expert knowledge of current technologies, tools, systems, and vendors.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.
  • Understanding of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively translate technical jargon into layman's terms.
Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of six or more years of industry experience as a substation commissioning, design, or maintenance engineer or related field with an advanced technical degree or professional engineer (PE) license required OR a minimum of eight years of industry experience as a substation commissioning, design, or maintenance engineer or related field required.

Additional Information

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary.
