Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II provides high-quality laboratory services to support patient care at Lexington Medical Center. This role requires expertise in laboratory testing, quality control, and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform manual and automated laboratory testing, including instrument calibration and verification.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens, including venipunctures and capillary punctures.
  • Review patient and instrument data for accuracy and maintain proper records.
  • Recognize abnormal results, evaluate and correlate data with other test results/diagnosis, and interpret appropriately.
  • Provide patient care/support that is appropriate to the cognitive, physical, and emotional needs of the patient group served.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Four-year diploma in Medical Laboratory Science, Biological Science, or Chemistry from a national or international accredited educational institution.
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or an equivalent state or governmental certification.
  • Board of Certification (BOC) or an equivalent state or governmental certification, including National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), American Medical Technologies (AMT), or American Association of Bioanalysts Board of Registry (AAB).
