We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist to join our team at Prisma Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of healthcare.

Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist will be responsible for conducting routine and stat laboratory tests, performing related duties, and following established standards and practices under limited supervision. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures with precision and accuracy, using established protocols and quality control measures.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and instruments accurately, following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Evaluate test results and report values correctly and legibly, recognizing abnormal or unusual results.
  • Collect and process specimens, verifying patient and specimen identification and labeling.
  • Provide instruction and training to new employees, students, and residents, documenting proficiency and progress.
  • Restock supplies, maintain a clean and organized work area, and document receipt and opening of supplies.
  • Review and verify accuracy of laboratory results, taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Observe and respond to safety violations and safety drills, reporting and documenting personal exposure to hazardous situations.
  • Employ good organizational skills, prioritizing tasks and utilizing time efficiently to meet deadlines.

Requirements

An Associate's Degree or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related field, is required. Certification or registration in a relevant field is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
