Position Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Real Estate Attorney to join our legal team. This role is essential in providing expert legal advice and support to our property development group and various departments within TJX. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide range of real estate contracts and offering legal guidance on all real estate matters related to our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough legal reviews, drafting, and negotiations of all real estate agreements for TJX and its divisions, including:
  • Leases and associated documents for retail locations, corporate offices, and distribution centers
  • Amendments to leases, including extensions, rent adjustments, and modifications
  • Preparation of waiver letters concerning use restrictions and exclusives
  • Drafting estoppel certificates and non-disturbance agreements
  • Managing subleases and lease assignments
  • Creating license agreements for temporary use of parking and storage
  • Providing legal advice on landlord-tenant disputes and notices
  • Assessing use restrictions impacting merchandising
  • Advising on lease interpretations and contractual provisions
  • Assisting in resolving contractual disputes and enforcing rights
  • Collaborating with outside counsel on litigation strategies

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required
  • Licensed to practice law in Massachusetts or eligible for In-House Counsel Registration
  • 3-10 years of relevant legal experience in real estate, preferably with a large law firm
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail with experience in drafting real estate documents
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently
  • Team-oriented, collaborating effectively with legal and business partners
