Position Overview

Thrift Store Associate Part-Time

Role Summary:

The Thrift Store Associate plays a vital role in supporting the operations of the thrift store, ensuring a welcoming environment for customers and efficient handling of donations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide essential support to staff during absences, ensuring smooth operations.
  2. Process transactions accurately and efficiently while delivering outstanding customer service.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized register area, including answering phone inquiries.
  4. Manage donation drop-off areas, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  5. Assist with inventory management, including loading and unloading items as needed.
  6. Support the driver in weekly pickups and maintain accurate records for reconciliation.
  7. Collaborate with the Retail Manager and team on community outreach initiatives and volunteer coordination.
  8. Assist in restocking shelves and maintaining store presentation.
  9. Process clothing vouchers for eligible clients as directed.
  10. Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, with availability from Monday to Saturday.
  11. Uphold the values and teachings of the organization.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience operating a cash register.
  • Proficient in English with strong communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with internet research and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to present a professional image and engage positively with customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team or independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with electronic timekeeping systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: Associate's degree or some college experience with relevant work history.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in retail management or supervisory roles.
  • Interest in serving underserved communities is advantageous.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination is a plus.
  • Knowledge of thrift store operations is beneficial.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift items up to 40 pounds using appropriate equipment.
  • Capability to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks.
  • Must be able to reach, stoop, kneel, and climb as necessary.
  • Vision requirements include the ability to see close and at a distance, as well as color and depth perception.
