Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
Accompany patients and their families to and from the examination area.


Provide a thorough explanation of the examination process to patients and their families prior to the procedure to ensure cooperation and optimal outcomes.

Collect anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological information for physician interpretation.


Maintain accurate patient records and sonographic data, documenting significant observations made during the examination for the interpreting physician's review.

Generate preliminary reports for physician evaluation and signature.

Collaborate with physicians to review imaging studies.

Assist physicians with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.

Accurately code services rendered.

Ensure the ultrasound equipment is functioning properly.

Identify equipment malfunctions and implement corrective measures.

Maintain cleanliness and organization in examination rooms.

Oversee the inventory of ultrasound supplies to ensure adequacy.

Adhere to accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode as applicable.

Comply with universal precautions and OSHA standards.

Follow safety and security training protocols.

Provide coverage for Sonographer absences as needed.

Perform related duties and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
A minimum of six months of experience as an ultrasound technician in an OB/GYN and/or MFM environment is preferred.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proficient in operating ultrasound machinery.

Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.

Requirements:

A high school diploma or GED; or a combination of education and experience equivalent.

Graduation from an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or a related field.

ARDMS OB/GYN certification or eligibility required.

Fetal echo certification or eligibility to obtain within 12 months of hire. Fetal echo experience is preferred but will be provided. Engage in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities. Participate in professional development initiatives and meetings.

Completion of a program in OB/GYN ultrasonography is necessary.

CPR certification is mandatory.


Successful completion of one of the following: at least two (2) years in an Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year of on-the-job training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.

Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).

Must provide proof of continuing education credits to meet accreditation standards.

The expected pay for this position ranges from $62.02 per hour, with actual compensation determined by relevant experience.
