POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising the accounting team, overseeing general ledger functions for multiple client entities, which include cash management, accounts payable, credit card processing, payroll, and capital lease accounting. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage financial statements for various subsidiaries while adhering to strict deadlines. A robust understanding of financial accounting principles is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement internal controls and guidelines for financial transactions and reporting.
  • Supervise the preparation of regular financial reports, ensuring compliance with established financial reporting standards.
  • Analyze departmental financial records, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of cash reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate recording and elimination of intercompany transactions during consolidation.
  • Regularly manage financial statements and escalate any issues to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate and monitor monthly closing processes, encompassing accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
  • Oversee general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and accurate financial reporting to facilitate management analysis of operational performance.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, identifying best practices for improving financial reporting and recording processes.
  • Assist senior management in developing and implementing new processes to enhance the month-end closing cycle.
  • Review account reconciliations, prepare monthly journal entries, and update supporting schedules, addressing errors from internal and external sources.
  • Execute timely financial closes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and maintenance of operational management accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules and commentary on operating account results and budget variances, along with cash-flow analyses.
  • Manage the upkeep of all financial records related to profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets.
  • Prepare monthly and year-to-date consolidated GAAP financial statements and other special reports as required by management.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and projections.
  • Manage the preparation and maintenance of fixed asset schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with company record retention policies.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong management and supervisory capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and engage additional resources as necessary.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Proficiency in accounting software; experience with QuickBooks is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with problem-solving skills focused on achieving business objectives.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.
