This role is pivotal in supporting patients at our Residential Treatment Facility throughout their recovery journey. The Patient Engagement Coordinator (PEC) is tasked with daily patient interaction, providing activity services, crisis intervention, and connecting with patients' diverse interests to enhance engagement. All interactions will be meticulously documented in the patients' electronic medical records (EMR). PECs play a crucial role in guiding patients towards appropriate behaviors, encouraging active participation in their treatment, and reflecting on the benefits of their involvement in programming. They motivate patients to attend all scheduled groups, medical appointments, and clinical sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete EMR documentation during the designated shift in a clear and timely manner.
  • Monitor patient behavior during group sessions, ensuring respectful participation and addressing any unexcused absences.
  • Review the patient handbook and assist in orienting patients to the program.
  • Facilitate educational and support groups for patients.
  • Assist in transporting PHP patients to off-site activities.
  • Provide individualized support to detox patients through daily meetings, reviewing programming requirements, and offering concierge services to enhance their engagement.
  • Support AMA (Against Medical Advice) discharge rescues.
  • Be available for crisis intervention with patients.
  • Practice individualized coping strategies with patients.
  • Collaborate with the clinical department to plan and execute engagement activities throughout the month.
  • Document weekly the number of patients engaged, noting those who left AMA and those successfully retained in treatment.
  • Deliver services based on specific skill sets to engage patients, such as physical fitness, arts, music, or gardening activities.
Patient Engagement Coordinators assigned to concierge care will provide crisis intervention support and engage with the community to foster positive interactions, reduce AMA risks, and offer additional attention to patients struggling with treatment engagement. This includes assisting patients in attending groups, meeting appointments, participating in campus activities, and removing barriers to treatment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to adapt to the culture of a multi-cultural, community-based organization.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Understanding of the agency's mission and culture, with the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients.
  • Previous experience in substance abuse and co-occurring disorders is preferred.
  • Employment is contingent upon a clear UDS and criminal history record.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift supplies up to 25 lbs. to waist height.
  • Must be able to navigate up to three flights of stairs throughout a normal workday.
  • Specific skill set and/or certification based on the facility's needs.
  • Satisfactory drug screening and background check.
Salary Range: Generally starting at $20.00 per hour.

The salary for selected candidates will be determined based on various factors, including experience, education, specialty, and training.
