Subway Restaurant Manager

Job Summary:
The Subway Assistant Manager is responsible for performing all tasks and responsibilities of the Associate and Team Leader, and operating the restaurant in the absence of the Franchise Manager. This includes maintaining food safety, product preparation, cleanliness, inventory control standards, and the training of staff. Exceptional customer service is a major component of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Models good customer service and acts as a positive role model for excellent customer service practices.
- Training and Development: Trains and empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
- Conflict Resolution: Resolves customer complaints in a courteous, businesslike, and timely manner.
- Staff Management: Provides DM or Store Manager with current and future hiring needs.
- Recruitment: Uses recruitment techniques to attract potential new employees.
- Selection Process: Utilizes all tools for selection process when hiring for the store.
- Employee Training: Ensures new employees are properly trained on all aspects of the restaurant.
- Cleanliness: Checks food preparation and dining areas for cleanliness.
- Employee Support: Assists employees in greeting customers, taking orders, and food preparation.
- Communication: Conducts regular meetings with Store Manager and employees to enhance communication and teamwork.
- Performance Reviews: Conducts regularly scheduled employee performance reviews and discussion.
- Scheduling: Prepares work schedule and posts in advance.
- Leadership: Provides clear, consistent direction and expectation to employees.
- Job Assignments: Establishes written job assignments.
- Food Safety: Ensures foodservice area, equipment, and utensil cleanliness meet company, Subway, and health regulations standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensures all equipment is maintained in good working order.
- Employee Adherence: Ensures all employees adhere to dress code, appearance, and health requirements.
- Employee Development: Provides timely motivational feedback and coaching to employees.
- Counseling and Documentation: Counsels and documents employees as necessary in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Inventory Management: Monitors orders to insure in-stock efficiency.
- Food Cost Management: Reviews fresh food forecasting to ensure maximizing of sales while maintaining acceptable food cost.
- Employee Training and Development: Trains and develops employees.
- Management Reports: Reviews management reports and takes appropriate action to insure balanced inventories.
- Delivery Verification: Verifies deliveries to ensure accuracy of order.
- Product Quality and Freshness: Ensures quality and freshness of products through proper rotation, ordering, and proper monitoring of codes and temperatures.
- Product Pricing: Ensures accurate and visible pricing of products.
- Merchandising: Merchandises product according to guidelines or layout.
- Product Preparation: Ensures products are made according to recipe and portion.
- Signage and Promotions: Ensures proper signage and price point is displayed.
- Sales Promotion: Promotes sales through suggestive selling and other approved means.
- Feedback and Reporting: Provides feedback to Store Manager, District Manager, Category Manager; and other personnel as appropriate on sales, food cost, and profit opportunities. Supplies accurate competitive information to departments.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures appropriate state, local, or company guidelines and health regulations are followed (including required records).
- Government Regulations: Adheres to government regulations (ADA, Environmental, Wage and Hour, EEO guidelines).
- Administrative Tasks: Ensures the timely and accurate completion of all daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork (deli inventories, waste, price changes).
- Inventory Control: Ensures all employees follow inventory control procedures.
- Safety and Security: Ensures all safety and security procedures are followed.
- Labor Management: Controls labor within established guidelines.
- Expense Management: Manages food cost and other expenses within established guidelines.
- Budget Management: Manages sales, profits, and expenses to budget.
- Training Materials: Maintains Subway Manual and ensures all training materials are accurate.
- Store Operations: Operates Subway within established hours.
- Other Duties: Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• 21 years of age or older
Valid Driver's License and car insurance
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Job requires bending, standing, and walking the entire workday
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication)
• Ability to show patience and articulate well during the training of new employees
• Ability to lift 10 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
