Job Summary

The State of Illinois is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Telecommunications Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of the Illinois Department of Public Health, you will be responsible for coordinating all telecommunications services across the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all telephone service requests, including new installations, relocations, and changes to existing services.
  • Purchase and issue telecommunications equipment, including cell phones, desk phones, and other devices.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of telecommunications equipment and coordinate with the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) for all non-transactional telecom changes.
  • Serve as a working supervisor, assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance and training to assigned staff, and counseling staff regarding work performance.
  • Coordinate monthly staff reports and prepare with the Division's monthly report.
  • Assume responsibility for division operations during the absence of the Division Chief.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
  • Requires two years' experience processing telecom service requests in expense management systems.
  • Requires two years' working experience submitting Telecom Services Requests (TSRs).
  • Requires two years' working experience in SAP.
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
  • Requires two years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years experience with purchasing telecommunication services and products.
  • Two years experience submitting and coordinating telecommunication services requests.
  • Two years experience working in SAP.
  • Two years experience estimating and budgeting for future equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Two years experience with telecommunication repair services and resolving problems.
  • One year experience coordinating telecommunications moves.
  • One year experience as a supervisor.
  • One year experience working on projects involving multiple state agencies or organizations.
  • Two years experience of meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking.
Working Conditions
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver's license.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires ability to work overtime at various times outside of normal office hours to meet deadlines.
  • Requires ability to secure and utilize a State/Agency issued cell phone and laptop computer.
