Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role operates within a continuous 24/7/365 framework where Traffic Operations Center (TOC) Coordinators act as the primary users and initial troubleshooters for the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) utilized by ITR Concession Co LLC.

The TOC and its personnel play a crucial role in safeguarding lives and property through prompt and precise adherence to established protocols, effective dispatching, and appropriate escalation notifications. Any significant oversight can heighten the risk of accidents and injuries along the transportation corridor.

Key Relationships:

  • Collaborates directly with TOC Supervisor, Assistant Manager, and Manager.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all operations with safety as a priority, fostering a culture of safety in all activities.
  • Embody the core values of ITR Concession Co LLC: Customer Service, Respect, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork (CREST).
  • Tasks include, but are not limited to, identifying, verifying, updating, and responding to both scheduled and unscheduled traffic incidents across the corridor.
  • Manage all operational aspects while on duty, utilizing 800Mhz radio, telephone, and email to communicate with all personnel and emergency services.
  • Ensure alignment with ITR Concession Co LLC's objectives and goals.
  • Monitor video feeds for the detection and confirmation of accidents, debris, abandoned vehicles, and spills, assessing the positioning of Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) in relation to incidents and activating appropriate messages to inform motorists of traffic conditions.
  • Utilize ITS software to log potential and confirmed incidents, as well as construction and maintenance closures.
  • Coordinate with towing services and emergency responders via radio or telephone, adhering to standard protocols regarding road hazards and accidents, providing clear and accurate incident descriptions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to simultaneously listen to two radio channels while engaging in telephone conversations.
  • Proficient typing skills with speed and accuracy.
  • Capability to monitor video feeds effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively under pressure.
  • Sound judgment for making immediate decisions.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with a similar industry; 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a detail-oriented, policy-driven environment, capable of managing stress and complexity.
  • Ability to convey technical information in an understandable manner.
  • Proficiency in Automated Traffic Management System (ATMS) software and related systems, with a basic understanding of ITS software for controlling and monitoring field devices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively; operators are not expected to perform software repairs beyond basic instructions.

Working Conditions:

  • This position entails: (Frequent estimated 5 hours per shift)
  • Regular standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Frequent verbal communication and listening.
  • Light physical exertion.
  • Possibility of additional hours or shifts during special events or adverse weather.
  • Extensive computer usage.
  • Travel may be required up to 10%.

This position operates on the third shift and requires availability on weekends and holidays.
