Job Summary:

The Referral Intake Specialist-ORC plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by reviewing and analyzing patient referrals for preauthorization, concurrent review, and case management for outpatient and inpatient service areas. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills to ensure seamless coordination between internal and external referral sources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviews and analyzes patient referrals to determine eligibility and authorization requirements
  • Obtains benefits and eligibility information as well as authorizations or pre-certifications as required
  • Schedules patient appointments as authorized and ensures timely communication with patients and healthcare providers
  • Maintains a working relationship with internal and external referral sources through regular communication and travel
  • Provides education and information to staff, physicians, and the community about services offered by Rehabilitation Services
  • Performs other duties as needed to support the team and ensure efficient operations
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum one year of call center experience in a customer service, sales environment, or clinical experience required
  • Minimum three years of experience in healthcare customer service call center preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Able to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Proficient in using computer software programs necessary to the position
  • Ability to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure
  • Collaborative and able to accept direction
