Role in Commercial Analytical Operations:

The Senior Associate Scientist in Commercial Analytical Operations plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of Commercial Biologics Quality Control. This position entails providing strategic leadership and overseeing daily operational activities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the release testing processes that support Gilead's commercial biologics drug substances and products.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of Quality Control procedures throughout Gilead's biologics manufacturing network.
  • Ensuring adherence to global cGMP standards and Gilead's Quality Management System.

Essential Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive experience across various Quality Control sub-functions, with a deep understanding of industry best practices and trends.
  • A comprehensive grasp of GMP principles, concepts, practices, and standards both domestically and internationally.
  • The ability to develop and refine complex concepts, techniques, and standards based on quality principles and theories.
  • Proficiency in devising solutions for intricate problems, requiring a high level of creativity and innovation.
  • The capability to exercise sound judgment and independently determine appropriate actions in novel situations.
  • A proven track record of collaborating with senior management to formulate and implement long-term solutions across the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and engage team members.
  • The ability to influence processes and outcomes across various functions.

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 4 years of experience.
  • Knowledge and expertise in Biologics quality control, with a proactive approach to staying ahead of industry trends.
  • Critical and creative thinking skills, with the ability to work independently to identify appropriate resources for problem resolution.
  • Excellent organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with collaborative interpersonal abilities.

The salary range for this position is: $133,000 - $172,000. Gilead considers various factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Actual compensation may vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and a comprehensive benefits package, including company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
