Landscaper / Groundskeeper / Horticultural Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Landscaper / Groundskeeper / Handyman to join our team at Excellence Services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in landscaping, maintenance, and property care, with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to work.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and schedule work duties, either independently or as part of a team, to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
• Follow established procedures and create to-do lists for property care and improvement.
• Maintain landscape and garden areas by planting, trimming, fertilizing, mowing, and performing other necessary tasks.
• Identify and troubleshoot irrigation leaks and other issues.
• Keep outdoor living spaces, furniture, and equipment clean and well-maintained.
• Perform power washing and other exterior cleaning tasks.
• Assist in inventory management and organization of tool sheds and garages.
• Supervise outside contractors and vendors as needed.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and painting.
• Pick up supplies and materials from local hardware stores and landscaping suppliers.
• Pick up packages and package cartons, unfolding and collecting them as needed.
• Perform sanitation duties, including trash sorting, removal, shredding, and trash bin cleaning.
• Manage pest control and removal, including placing bait stations for rodents.
• Respond to requests from the Property Manager and maintenance staff in a timely and professional manner.
• Provide support and guidance to clients on maintaining their equipment and keeping records.

Qualifications:

• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
• 5+ years of experience in a high-level private home or similar role.
• Excellent verbal references from current and previous employers.
• Valid Driver's License and eligibility to work in the United States.
• Pass a background check and drug screen.
• Professional, proactive, reliable, and respectful of client boundaries and confidentiality.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Education in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, irrigation, or similar trade is a plus.
• Knowledge of landscaping methods and proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides.
• Basic knowledge of ornamental horticulture and gardening tasks.
• Knowledge of workplace safety and safety protocols.
• Ability to operate basic power tools.
• Excellent technical knowledge of the job and ability to identify common plants and insect or disease conditions.
• Desire and ability to provide high-quality service.
• Strong attention to detail and organized, with great time-management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to safely operate equipment such as mowers, trimmers, edgers, pruners, chainsaws, and blowers.
• Able to work in both large and confined spaces.
• Physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to reach, kneel, squat, crouch, bend, and crawl.
• Able to respond to requests in a timely fashion and follow through until completed.
• Can show flexibility and go the extra mile when needed to get the job done.
• Annual flu shot required.
