Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Landscaper / Groundskeeper / Horticultural Specialist to join our team at Excellence Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the exterior of our clients' properties, ensuring they are safe, beautiful, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and schedule work duties to ensure efficient use of time and resources.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan to ensure the property's exterior is well-maintained.
  • Perform a variety of tasks, including landscaping, gardening, and maintenance, to ensure the property's exterior is safe and attractive.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with irrigation systems, pipes, and other exterior systems.
  • Keep outdoor living spaces, furniture, and equipment clean and well-maintained.
  • Perform power washing, cleaning, and other exterior maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Assist in inventory management and organization of tool sheds and garages.
  • Supervise outside contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
  • Pick up supplies and materials from local hardware stores and landscaping suppliers.
  • Perform sanitation duties, including trash sorting, removal, and cleaning.
  • Responsible for pest control and removal, including placing bait stations for rodents.
  • Communicate effectively with the property manager and maintenance staff to ensure seamless execution of tasks.
  • Provide clients with support and guidance on maintaining their equipment and keeping records.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role or capacity.
  • Excellent direct manager-level verbal references from current and previous employers.
  • Valid Driver's License and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Professional, proactive, reliable, and respectful of clients' boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in all weather and temperature conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and provide manual labor.
  • Education in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, irrigation, or a similar trade is a plus.
  • Knowledge of methods of landscaping and proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides.
  • Basic knowledge of ornamental horticulture and skill in a wide variety of gardening tasks.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and appropriate safety protocols.
  • Ability to operate basic power tools.
  • Consistently demonstrate excellent technical knowledge of the job.
  • Ability to identify common plants and insect or disease conditions on plants.
  • Desire and ability to provide high-quality service.
  • Strong attention to detail and organized, with great time-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment such as mowers, trimmers, edgers, pruners, chainsaws, and blowers.
  • Able to work in both large and confined spaces.
  • Physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to reach, kneel, squat, crouch, bend, and crawl.
  • Able to respond to requests in a timely fashion and follow through until completed.
  • Can show flexibility and go the extra mile when needed to get the job done.
  • Annual flu shot required.
