This position is responsible for providing instructional support to students with disabilities in a special education classroom. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the teacher to assist with implementing individualized education plans, engaging students in instructional activities, and performing clerical duties.
Key Responsibilities- Assist students in mastering instructional materials and engaging in instructional activities under the direction of the teacher.
- Perform clerical duties in support of the special education classroom, including recording student attendance, reproducing instructional materials, and creating bulletin boards and classroom displays.
- Assist in the modification of instructional materials and administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially taught by the teacher.
- Collect and record data related to students' IEP objectives and educational plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration.
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
- Eligible for appropriate paraprofessional certification
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Able to maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task activities
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and to maintain emotional control under stress. The successful candidate will also be required to work with students who have a range of abilities and needs, including those with physical and behavioral challenges.
Salary and BenefitsThe salary for this position is $22-$30 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
