Hackensack Meridian Health is in search of a seasoned, Board Certified Medical Oncology Director to embody leadership, vision, and clinical expertise in establishing a premier cancer center in Central New Jersey. Backed by our Hackensack Meridian Health Care Transformation Service and physician leadership, the Medical Director will engage in direct patient care while overseeing the comprehensive clinical management of medical oncology at the cancer center. Additionally, the Medical Director will work in collaboration with the John Theurer Cancer Center to ensure the highest quality of care for HMH cancer patients. This position represents a significant leadership opportunity within our flourishing health network.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Provide extensive leadership in clinical, educational, and programmatic endeavors, ensuring quality care, policy execution, interdisciplinary patient management, and integration across multiple locations, while advancing clinical research and community outreach initiatives.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to outstanding patient care and guarantee quality through the implementation and oversight of quality management programs and processes.
  • Cultivate positive relationships within the department, clinic, and community.
  • Actively engage in educational programs and initiatives - instruct, supervise, and mentor oncology physicians, residents, and fellows.
  • Uphold high standards in clinical research practices - lead clinical development initiatives, monitor data integrity and safety, serve as a clinical expert, remain current in therapeutic advancements, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a medical oncology/hematology program within the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine.
  • Provide on-call coverage for medical oncology patients, participating in night and weekend calls on a rotating basis with other medical oncology physicians.

Requirements for the Position:

  • M.D./D.O. degree from an accredited Medical or Osteopathic School.
  • Board Certified in medical oncology; additional certification in hematology/internal medicine is advantageous.
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a New Jersey Medical License.
  • Valid DEA and CDS certifications.
  • A minimum of 7 years of clinical experience.
  • Active practice as a medical oncologist.
  • Prior experience in clinical leadership is essential.
  • Demonstrated interest in the development and execution of clinical trials and education for fellows and residents.
