Chief of Medical Oncology

Hackensack Meridian Health is in search of a seasoned, Board Certified Director of Medical Oncology to provide strategic leadership, vision, and clinical expertise in establishing a premier cancer treatment center in Central New Jersey. This role involves direct patient care and oversight of comprehensive medical oncology services within the cancer center. The Medical Director will also engage with the John Theurer Cancer Center to enhance the overall care for HMH cancer patients. This position represents a significant leadership opportunity within our expanding health network.

Responsibilities of the Role:
- Provide comprehensive leadership in clinical, educational, and programmatic initiatives, ensuring quality care, policy execution, interdisciplinary patient management, and integration across multiple locations, while promoting clinical research and community engagement.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to outstanding patient care, ensuring quality through the implementation and supervision of quality management programs and processes.
- Build and maintain positive relationships within the department, clinic, and community.
- Actively engage in educational initiatives - teaching, supervising, and mentoring oncology physicians, residents, and fellows.
- Uphold high standards in clinical research practices - leading clinical development programs, monitoring data integrity and safety, serving as a clinical expert, staying updated on therapeutic advancements, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to the establishment of a medical oncology/hematology program within the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine.
- Provide on-call coverage for medical oncology patients, participating in night and weekend calls on a rotating basis with other medical oncology physicians.
Qualifications Required:
- M.D./D.O. degree from an accredited Medical or Osteopathic School.
- Board Certified in medical oncology; additional certification in hematology/internal medicine is advantageous.
- Possess or be eligible to obtain a New Jersey Medical License.
- Valid DEA and CDS registration.
- A minimum of 7 years of clinical experience.
- Currently practicing as a medical oncologist.
- Prior experience in clinical leadership is essential.
- Active interest in the development and execution of clinical trials and education for fellows and residents.
