Hackensack Meridian Health is in search of a seasoned, Board Certified Chief of Medical Oncology to embody leadership, vision, and clinical expertise to establish a leading cancer center in Central New Jersey. Backed by our Hackensack Meridian Health Care Transformation Service and physician leadership, the Medical Director will engage in direct patient care while overseeing the comprehensive clinical management of medical oncology at the cancer center. The Medical Director will also collaborate with the John Theurer Cancer Center to ensure optimal care for HMH cancer patients. Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Provide comprehensive leadership in clinical, educational, and programmatic activities, ensuring quality care, policy implementation, interdisciplinary patient management, and integration efforts across multiple campus locations, while promoting clinical research and community engagement initiatives.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to outstanding patient care and guarantee the quality of care through the implementation and oversight of quality management programs and processes.
  • Cultivate positive relationships within the department, clinic, and the community.
  • Actively engage in educational programs and initiatives - instruct, supervise, and mentor oncology physicians, residents, and fellows.
  • Uphold high standards in clinical research practices - lead clinical development programs, monitor data integrity and safety, serve as a clinical expert, remain updated on therapeutic advancements, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a medical oncology/hematology program within the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine.
  • Provide on-call coverage for medical oncology patients, with night and weekend calls on a rotating basis with other medical oncology physicians.

Requirements for the Position:

  • M.D./D.O. degree from an accredited Medical or Osteopathic School.
  • Board Certified in medical oncology; additional certification in hematology/internal medicine is advantageous.
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a New Jersey Medical License.
  • Valid DEA, CDS.
  • A minimum of 7 years of clinical experience.
  • Active practice as a medical oncologist.
  • Prior experience in clinical leadership is essential.
  • Demonstrated interest in the development and execution of clinical trials and education for fellows and residents.
