Insurance Underwriter Job Description

At Search Force, we're seeking a skilled Insurance Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our commercial lines team, you'll play a crucial role in evaluating and managing risk for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Market and negotiate with brokers and carriers to secure the best possible rates and terms.
  • Assist brokers in writing new business for their clients, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Examine and evaluate documents, applications, and reports to determine risk and market selection.
  • Solve problems, resolve conflicts, and collaborate effectively with teams to drive business growth.
  • Obtain quotes, rates, and explain company underwriting policies and offers to clients.
  • Service existing accounts and present proposals to secure new business.
  • Determine risk and market selection for renewals and new business, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Bind risks within authority and broker risks beyond authority, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Prepare submissions for rating and handling by support staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance underwriting, with a strong background in commercial lines.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on risk management and underwriting.
  • Ideal candidate should have a minimum of 1 year's experience for Assistant Underwriter positions and 3 years for Underwriter positions.
  • Experience in writing both non-admitted and admitted risks, with a strong understanding of market dynamics.
  • Comfortable speaking with brokers and building lasting relationships with independent insurance agencies.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to articulate complex ideas.
  • Market knowledge and interest in networking, with a focus on driving business growth.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent, with a focus on business and finance.
