Life Science Research Professional 2

We are seeking a highly motivated Life Science Research Professional 2 to join our team at Stanford University. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing foundational lab management duties, conducting complex experiments, and independently contributing to research projects in the Neuroimmune Imaging Research and Discovery (NiRD) Lab.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily laboratory activities, including maintaining lab stock, managing chemical inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Provide general lab support to lab members, including data analysis, experiment setup, and maintenance of rodent inventories.
- Independently conduct complex lab experiments, interpret results, and make recommendations on experimental design and research direction.
- Develop new research protocols, participate in multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the preparation of papers for publication.
- Supervise staff or students as needed, serve as a technical resource for other research staff, and work with the PI to lead on purchasing laboratory equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field and two years of relevant work experience; or Master's degree in a related scientific field.
- Comprehensive understanding of scientific principles, general computer skills, and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications.
- Strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and ability to maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
- Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance, excellent organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work.
The successful candidate will work in a laboratory environment where animals are used for teaching and research, and may be required to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. The position may also require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs.
