Life Science Research Professional 2

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Life Science Research Professional 2 to join our team at the Stanford University School of Medicine. The successful candidate will work independently under the guidance of the Primary Investigator and lab members to provide basic lab management and perform complex experiments.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct independent research projects, making recommendations on experimental design and research direction to the principal investigator.
- Conduct complex experiments to gather data for a portion of a major research project, interpreting and analyzing results.
- Develop new research protocols where necessary, and participate in multidisciplinary teams across different faculties or schools.
- Contribute to the preparation of papers for publication, especially in the results section, and present ongoing work to colleagues and/or academic conferences.
- Oversee supply and equipment budget, and work with the health and safety department to ensure lab compliance with regulations.
- Supervise staff or students as needed, and serve as a technical resource for other research staff.
- Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field and two years of relevant work experience, or Master's degree in a related scientific field.
- Comprehensive understanding of scientific principles, general computer skills, and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications.
- Strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and ability to maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
The position may require working in close proximity to blood-borne pathogens, working with or being in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present, and performing tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment.
