Job Summary

Stanford University is seeking a highly skilled Life Science Research Professional 2 to join our team in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for conducting complex research projects, analyzing data, and contributing to the development of new research protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent research projects, including designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results.
  • Collaborate with principal investigators and research teams to develop and implement research protocols.
  • Develop and maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams across different faculties or schools.
  • Contribute to the preparation of papers for publication and present ongoing work to colleagues and academic conferences.
  • Supervise staff or students as needed, including oversight and direction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work.
  • Oversee the daily activities of the laboratory, including lab maintenance, chemical inventory, and safety records.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field and two years of relevant work experience, or Master's degree in a related scientific field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of scientific principles, including cell and molecular biology concepts.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.
  • Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work.
Working Conditions

The position may require working in close proximity to blood-borne pathogens, working with animals, and exposure to hazardous materials. The employee must perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and shoes, protective clothing, and gloves.
