Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Educator to join our team at Norwalk Hospital Association. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing education and maintaining continuing competencies for L&D, Post Partum, and NICU units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the department of Nursing Education and Research to coordinate and track education for unit interdisciplinary staff, ensuring up-to-date competencies and required certifications.
  • Develop and coordinate unit-based and online education plans for Family Birth Center, NICU, and Pediatrics, in collaboration with department Nurse Managers.
  • Conduct education for the department, providing CEUs for unit-specific educational programs as appropriate.
  • Support and encourage nurses pursuing and maintaining specialty certifications.
  • Coordinate annual MCH seminar and participate in EFM strip reviews, huddles, and high-risk rounds.
  • Collaborate with medical staff members and nurse managers to plan and facilitate clinical drills for high-risk situations.
  • Develop unit-based patient safety goals, evidence-based, and team-focused policies, procedures, and clinical practice guidelines aligned with the organization's mission and strategic plan.
  • Function as a mentor, role model, and clinical resource, providing feedback to nurse managers for staff member performance evaluations.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Requirements
  • Labor and Delivery acute care experience.
  • Ability to coordinate with department managers to develop unit-based education plans.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support change initiatives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of nursing and medical personnel.
  • Promotes team building, leadership, and professionalism through mentoring and role modeling.
  • Strong communication skills, well-developed organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PALS and EFM instructor certification.
Working Conditions

This role requires manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity. The physical effort is medium to heavy, with the ability to exert up to 35 lbs. force. There may be some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
