Job Summary:

As a Nurse Specialist in Interventional Radiology, you will provide clinical leadership and expertise in the area of specialty. This role is responsible for meeting the physical, psychological, social, and educational needs of patients and their families, as well as providing consultation to other healthcare providers regarding patient needs and nursing care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides clinical leadership and expertise in the area of specialty

• Assists Interventional Radiologists with daily procedures and implements physician orders

• Performs nursing assessment at the time of procedures or within one week of the start of the procedure, including medication reconciliation

• Obtains medical history, assesses patients for special needs, and plans appropriate care and recovery

• Takes emergency interventions and initiates action to preserve patient safety and good clinical outcomes

• Educates patients, their families, and healthcare providers on procedures, treatments, side effects, and symptom management

• Performs direct patient care as needed, including adjusting and activating equipment and connecting patients to monitoring devices

• Documents all assessments and clinical care provided, referrals for services, communication with other departments or physician offices, and administration of medications in the medical record

Requirements:

• Associate Degree or higher

• Three years of experience

• Current Registered Nurse License

• CPR certified

Desired:

• Experience in an IR or Cath Lab environment

Working Conditions:

• Significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity

• Some occupational risk

• Very Heavy effort, exerting up to 50 lbs. force

• Generally pleasant working conditions
