Job Title: HVAC Supervisor

Facilities Management at Brown University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVAC Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for supervising the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with codes, department instructions, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage staff in a union environment
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the shop, including quality control and quality assurance
  • Contribute expertise to departmental initiatives and projects
  • Assign, lay out, and supervise the work of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance workers
  • Make accurate labor and material cost estimates
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
  • Analyze maintenance, repair, and construction data and make recommendations
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of others
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 7 years of experience, with at least 5 years managing staff
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials of the trade
  • Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of HVAC systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to complete accurate records, including time and material costs
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques
Working Conditions:

This position is classified as on-site and requires the ability to perform physical activities that require frequent talking, hearing, seeing, color identification, reading, and writing. The position also requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform other physical activities as needed.
