Healthcare Support Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY: The role involves providing essential support in an urgent care setting, assisting healthcare providers in delivering comprehensive patient care under the guidance of licensed medical professionals.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent; completion of a Certified Medical Assistant Program is mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years in an emergency department, urgent care, or similar clinical environment is required.
Skills and Abilities: Candidates should possess a range of skills, including but not limited to:
- Proficient in blood drawing techniques.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to evolving schedules.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Quick decision-making abilities and effective communication with staff and patients.
- Team-oriented with a focus on customer service.
- Cultural sensitivity is essential.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) or the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
Licenses/Certifications Required:
- Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant Training program.
- Current CPR Certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient intake procedures, including measuring vital signs and documenting relevant medical history.
- Accurately record patient information, including chief complaints and other pertinent data.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as blood glucose monitoring and EKGs.
- Alert healthcare providers of any abnormal findings in vital signs or test results.
- Assist with clinical tasks under supervision, including minor procedures and medication administration.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, ensuring they are properly stocked and sanitized.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols diligently.
- Execute general office tasks, including venipunctures and nebulizer treatments.
- Operate diagnostic equipment, while understanding limitations in interpreting results.
- Provide CPR and first aid as necessary in emergencies.
- Ensure all medical equipment is functioning correctly and report any issues to supervisory staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include travel to various locations as needed.
