Job Title: Medical Coding Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at i3 Verticals. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our clients' medical records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assign and sequence ICD-10 and CPT codes and modifiers accurately
  • Communicate with clients regarding inadequate or unclear documentation
  • Monitor regulatory and payer changes affecting diagnostic and procedure coding
  • Research and resolve coding-related system edits, payer rejections, and insurance denials
  • Identify trends in system edits, payer rejections, and insurance denials to improve client policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Nationally recognized coding credential (e.g., CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT) through AHIMA/AAPC
  • 1-3+ years of coding experience, preferably in outpatient physician and/or multi-specialty coding
  • Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under general supervision and handle multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent telephone etiquette, presentation skills, and problem resolution skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality
