As a key member of our team, the Safety Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being of our employees, customers, and the environment. This position is responsible for managing facility safety, promoting Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) within the business, and assisting in creating and coordinating safety programs.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage facility safety, including conducting regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Support and promote EHS within the business, including developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in creating and coordinating safety programs, including training and development initiatives.
- Assist in audits of worksites prior to work start, as work is proceeding, and after work is complete.
- Review Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Lockout Tag-outs (LOTOs) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Train contractors and operators on facility safety requirements.
- Follow up with safety improvement projects to ensure we maintain focus and momentum.
- Participate/Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Commitment to high safety and environmental standards.
- Safety Certifications such as OSHA 30 in Construction Management or General Industry.
- 3-10 years in a safety role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.
- Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent.
- Safety Certifications such as OSHA 501 or OSHA 511.
- 3-10 years experience in food production or other highly regulated industries.
- 3-10 years experience in process-based, manufacturing environments.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in union environments.
- Detailed and results-oriented.
- Bilingual, Spanish.
$34.00 to $41.00 per hour.
