Safety Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our team at ArcelorMittal. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership in the implementation of our corporate safety, security, and emergency response program.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the development and implementation of safety management systems, including work processes, safety plans, and standards and procedures
* Coach teams and individuals on safety-related tasks and activities
* Participate in root cause investigations to achieve plant health and safety goals, eliminate injuries, and reduce exposures
* Evaluate behavioral-based data and coach teams to habit strength by assisting in the managing and auditing of the safe behavior process
* Participate in and provide data for safety audits and assessments
* Assist in maintaining safety recordkeeping systems, health assessment planning tool, and qualitative exposure assessment databases
* Assist in maintaining industrial hygiene programs and conduct necessary monitoring per IH plans
* Participate in creating and delivering safety training
* Assist in organizing and overseeing the site and facility security plan
* Assess process and non-process-related risks, including natural disasters
* Make recommendations in developing and implementing the facility-wide emergency management plan
* Assess emergency response equipment needs and organize emergency response teams based on risk assessments
* Assist in developing, implementing, and training the emergency response team
* Initiate emergency plans and provide leadership in response to on-site emergencies
Requirements:
* OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer preferred or completed OSHA 510/511
* ASP/CSP preferred
* Must be able to assume the role of Incident Commander at an emergency incident
* Must complete firefighter training up to the level of Fire Brigade Leader
* Must be able to walk long distances and stand and work for more than 2 hours in tough environmental conditions
* Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
* Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing
* Must be able to travel occasionally
* Must be able to enter into dangerous environments to execute lifesaving rescue and combat fire or hazardous situations, having been provided proper equipment and training
* Must have experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining site safety and security plans
* Must have reliable transportation to and from the site
* Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card
