Employment Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

The Store Worker I operates under close supervision, executing stocking and cleaning responsibilities at a retail environment, such as a military base commissary. Utilizing non-motorized tools, the Store Worker I efficiently moves merchandise designated for display and resale, adhering to a systematic placement strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Stock merchandise on shelves.
  2. Reorganize misplaced items.
  3. Remove damaged products, debris, and cardboard.
  4. Maintain a neat and appealing display sales area.
  5. Rotate stock to ensure freshness and compliance with sale dates.
  6. Dispose of outdated or damaged merchandise.
  7. Return surplus stock to storage.
  8. Clean and dust shelves and products using retail-standard techniques.
  9. Conduct wet or dry clean-up tasks.
  10. Provide excellent customer service regarding merchandise inquiries.
  11. May operate manual pallet jacks or flat-bed carts.
  12. Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

Ability to follow structured processes and instructions; proficiency in using relevant tools and equipment; flexibility in schedule and task assignments; availability for evening shifts; basic mathematical skills for inventory reporting; capability to interpret stock and shelf labels; strong collaboration skills with management, staff, and customers; effective time management and adaptability to changing priorities.

Physical Demands:

Employees must be capable of performing the following physical tasks for extended periods, with or without assistance: navigating within the commissary, bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing or pulling up to 75 pounds, grasping various objects, and climbing or standing on ladders and stools.

Work Environment:

This role is conducted in a retail, warehouse, or distribution setting, where employees may encounter forklifts and material handling equipment. Exposure to noise and varying weather conditions may occur.
