Job Summary

As a Commissary Officer, you will be responsible for managing all activities and functions of the commissary, including the various departments (i.e., grocery, meat, produce, and where applicable deli-bakery), management support and other functions. You will also exercise the full range of managerial and supervisory responsibilities for store employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directing and controlling all phases of commissary operations through subordinate supervisors and/or leaders.
  • Executing Agency policy, sales, and promotional programs.
  • Coordinating with Zone Manager in developing and implementing local commissary management policies and procedures.
  • Analyzing a variety of management reports to determine efficiency of operations and initiate action to correct deficiencies.
  • Managing and monitoring all budget funding expenditures to ensure that execution is within the parameters of the funding program for their individual store.
  • Directing, monitoring, and adjusting the overall execution of the store sales plan, ensuring that sales goals and targets are met.
  • Establishing, monitoring, and adjusting an inventory control program and store security program that focuses on the elimination of fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Establishing, monitoring, and adjusting a variety of programs to include safety, customer relations, sanitation, and patron identification programs.
  • Promoting DeCA goals and objectives of the EEO and Affirmative Action Program.
  • Participating in customer advisory council meetings.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
  • Males born after must be registered with or exempt from Selective Service.
  • Appointment is subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance eligibility based on an appropriate background investigation.
  • May be subject to a probationary/trial period.
  • May be subject to one year supervisory probationary period.
  • Must complete a Conflict of Interest Questionnaire.
  • Must sign a Mobility Agreement upon accepting a job offer from HR.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
