SOFEC, Inc. stands at the forefront of designing and supplying Single-Point Mooring (SPM) systems, actively engaging in innovative research to enhance tanker mooring systems and their components. Our projects encompass a wide spectrum, from initial design studies to extensive engineering, fabrication, and procurement initiatives, including installation and commissioning. The systems we provide are crucial for marine terminals facilitating product import and export, as well as for turret, tower yoke, and spread moorings utilized in tanker-based floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO/FSO) systems, deployed in water depths ranging from 30 feet to 5,000 feet. We are currently seeking a qualified Mooring Integrity Engineer.

Role Overview:

The Mooring Integrity Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the Asset Integrity Group, focusing specifically on Anchor Leg Mooring Systems:


• Providing mooring inspection assistance.


• Conducting integrity assessments to determine fitness-for-service post-inspection.


• Developing strategies and management plans for mooring integrity.


• Analyzing mooring monitoring data and managing databases.

Key Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with our operational clients to formulate their mooring integrity management plans and inspection scopes.

· Create inspection work packages tailored to mooring configurations, integrity management plans, and historical inspection data. Maintain a repository of standardized inspection methodologies for incorporation into work packages.

· Review incoming inspection data and sustain a comprehensive mooring inspection database.

· Execute thorough evaluations of mooring system conditions based on inspection and monitoring data, assessing both component integrity and overall system performance.

· Cultivate and maintain a deep understanding of degradation modes and integrity challenges associated with mooring systems and components, alongside detection and characterization techniques.

· Collaborate closely with the mooring team, sharing insights from operational experiences to enhance mooring design practices.

· Stay informed about advancements in subsea inspection techniques and tools, engaging with suppliers and service providers regarding new developments and best practices.

· Develop digital routines (algorithms) for routine assessment tasks using programming languages such as Python or Matlab.

· Specify and assist in the development of mooring monitoring systems throughout project execution in EPC phases, ensuring implementation on floating facilities equipped with SOFEC mooring systems.

· Identify and resolve issues effectively, researching and developing technical solutions to meet business requirements.

· Present options and recommendations to stakeholders clearly, challenging them when necessary to ensure cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Educational Background:

· A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Process, Ocean, Marine, etc.).

1-4 years of practical experience in offshore, marine, pipeline, or a related field, in roles such as:

  • Engineering
  • Operations Support
  • Asset and Integrity Management
  • Data Analytics

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in inspection, monitoring, and condition assessments.
  • Background in marine or subsea construction or operations.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards, including ABS, DNV, API, ISO, etc.
  • Proficiency in data cleaning, evaluation, database management, and visualization, with a preference for programming skills in Python.
  • Preferred knowledge includes mooring systems and components.

Language and Software Proficiency:

  • Effective communication skills in English across various functions.
  • Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Preferably skilled in programming languages such as Matlab or Python.
  • Familiarity with mooring analysis software like OrcaFlex is advantageous.
