Houston, Texas, United States KBR Full time

Position:

Human Systems Integration Specialist (Supporting NASA at Johnson Space Center)

Join KBR: Innovate and Inspire

At KBR, we are dedicated to shaping the future.

We are a collective of innovators, thinkers, creators, explorers, volunteers, and dreamers, united by a common mission: to enhance the world responsibly and safely.

This role will support the Human Health and Performance Directorate alongside the Health and Medical Technical Authority (HMTA) at NASA/JSC. As part of a collaborative team of integrators and subject matter experts (SMEs), you will ensure that NASA's human spaceflight initiatives effectively integrate and adhere to HMTA standards derived from NASA-STD-3001 in vehicle design.

The Human Systems Integration Specialist will acquire and maintain comprehensive technical knowledge across various human health and performance disciplines, engaging SMEs for detailed insights. Key disciplines include crew health, environmental considerations, medical operations, physiology, anthropometry, strength and biomechanics, maintenance and housekeeping, safety, habitability and architecture, information management, and displays and controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Human Systems Integration Specialist.
  • Engage in designated meetings as the HMTA/HHP representative, proactively reviewing agendas to involve relevant HHP representatives and/or SMEs, documenting meeting notes, and sharing pertinent information with the HMTA/HHP team.
  • Collaborate with HMTA, HHP Management, and HHP technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Coordinate with NASA Program Requirement Owners.
  • Provide insights regarding Program compliance with HMTA mandatory standards and inform HMTA decision-making.
  • Participate in Program document and design reviews, generate corresponding summary assessments, and follow up on resultant actions.
  • Develop requirements mapping from HMTA standards to Program documents and conduct gap analyses.
  • Review and evaluate integrated test and analysis activities; summarize and represent an HMTA position based on subject matter expertise during Program reviews.
  • Create position papers, presentations, and/or interpretations of HMTA issues.
  • Participate in HMTA meetings, NASA Human Spaceflight Program meetings, HH&P meetings, and internal team meetings; develop and deliver presentations as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Required: A Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, biomedical engineering, industrial engineering, biomedical science, or a closely related field, along with 0 to 5 years of experience (or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience).
  • Desired: Experience in human systems integration and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams is preferred. Familiarity with human systems requirements/verification in human spaceflight vehicle design and/or experience with NASA Technical Authority, as well as NASA spaceflight operations, is advantageous.

Skills and Training:

  • Required: Demonstrated ability to work independently, with strong verbal and written communication skills, including the capacity to deliver presentations and compose reports. The candidate should be able to effectively engage in Program meetings and listen to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to represent their expertise appropriately.
  • Desired: Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NASA-STD-3001) and human spaceflight is beneficial. The candidate should possess the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

KBR Benefits:
