Job Overview

Position Summary

The Patient Care Transport Specialist is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of patients throughout the healthcare facility. This role involves transporting patients to various departments including nursing units, operating rooms, rehabilitation, and imaging services. Additionally, the specialist will manage the transportation of essential equipment, supplies, medications, and correspondence as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates proficiency in operating necessary equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, IV pumps, monitors, and oxygen delivery systems.
  • Adheres to equipment maintenance protocols, promptly reporting any malfunctioning devices to the appropriate department.
  • Ensures accurate patient identification by verifying information against the transport request and patient identification band.
  • Utilizes proper body mechanics during patient transport and transfer to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Completes all transport assignments efficiently, documenting productivity on a daily basis.
  • Delivers mail and other correspondence in a timely manner when assigned.

Customer Service Excellence:
Engages with patients and staff in a courteous and professional manner, maintaining eye contact and demonstrating respect. Follows established communication protocols, introducing oneself with name and role, and actively listening to customer needs. Addresses inquiries and concerns promptly, ensuring confidentiality and privacy at all times.

Team Collaboration:
Actively supports colleagues and other departments as needed, taking ownership of problem-solving and completing tasks within designated timelines. Addresses conflicts directly and respectfully, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Professional Communication:
Maintains professionalism in all forms of communication, adhering to the facility's communication standards. Limits personal phone use in patient care areas and ensures that all communications are respectful and appropriate.

Self-Management:
Participates in ongoing educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to the role. Adheres to the dress code and identification protocols, ensuring a professional appearance at all times. Completes all required training and competency assessments in a timely manner, demonstrating a commitment to personal and professional growth.
