Job Title: WIC Health and Nutrition Educator

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate WIC Health and Nutrition Educator to join our team at OneWorld Community Health Centers Inc.

Job Summary:

The WIC Health and Nutrition Educator will serve as a nutrition counselor and health educator, providing patient-centered goal-setting for nutritional balance and healthy lifestyles for our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients, adhering to the mandates of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program duties in accordance with USDA Regulations and State and Local Agency Policies and Procedures.
  • Determine medical/nutritional risks and prescribe supplemental foods as part of the WIC program.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Develop and implement educational programs and materials to promote healthy lifestyles and nutrition education.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs and develop individualized plans.

Requirements:

  • Nutritionists (Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutritional Sciences, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition, or Home Economics/Consumer & Family Sciences with emphasis in nutrition).
  • Or eligible for Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Or Registered Nurses (RN) with current Nebraska license.
  • Or Physicians/Physician's Assistants (PA), certified by the State of Nebraska Licensure Board.
  • Or a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 hours of coursework in human nutrition.
  • Or a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 9 hours of course work in human nutrition and 2 years of work experience related to nutrition education (such as WIC, EFNEP, community health educator).
  • Or Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and completion of a competency-based training program operated by a WIC State Agency and a minimum of 2 years of work experience as a WIC CPA.
  • Or Registered Dietetic Technician – DTR.
  • Or Licensed Practical Nurse with a current Nebraska License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One or more years of nutritional counseling/education experience.
  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal) is required and Spanish is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate with warmth and empathy to clients, coworkers, healthcare providers, and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently.
