Position Overview:
As a Registered Nurse in Radiology, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care within our nursing unit, adhering to established protocols and standards. You will play a crucial role in supporting the Patient Bill of Rights and will operate under the guidance of the Nursing Manager or Director.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Active RN - Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida, maintained in good standing throughout employment.
  • Current CPR BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), kept active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • PALS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), to be maintained within two years of employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicates patient progress, including critical findings and changes in condition, to the relevant medical professionals.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and document comprehensive care plans that ensure safe and efficient patient care.
  • Conducts ongoing assessments of patients, utilizing knowledge of age-specific criteria and presenting complaints, while engaging in patient and family education before, during, and after procedures.
  • Upholds patient dignity and confidentiality, acting as a strong advocate for patient rights.
  • Prepares for patients with sedation or anesthesia histories by reviewing medical records and prior reactions to medications.
  • Anticipates potential complications related to sedation and prepares accordingly.
  • Monitors and evaluates patient responses to sedation/anesthesia, ensuring recovery aligns with hospital policies and communicating findings to the healthcare team.
  • Confirms appointments and gathers comprehensive medical histories, providing clear discharge instructions and documenting all relevant information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Independently accesses and maintains accurate documentation in the patient’s EMR as per hospital policy.
  • Secures necessary consents for procedures, ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Educates patients and families on health-related topics, including disease management, medications, treatments, and safety protocols.
  • Administers medications as per physician orders, adhering to the Six Rights of Medication Administration.
  • Promotes a safe working environment by performing thorough hand-offs and adhering to infection prevention protocols.
  • Initiates intravenous access and places urinary catheters in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments of all body systems, ensuring effective care delivery while minimizing medication errors and fall risks.
  • Ensures the delivery of safe and effective care, focusing on infection prevention and maintaining skin integrity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or currently enrolled in a BSN program.
  • Preferred experience in PACU or Sedation training.
  • Commitment to career development, with national certification preferred within five years of hire.
  • Availability for on-call duties as required.
  • Preferred experience in Pediatric Nursing within Critical Care, Operating Room, or Emergency Room settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and complete them efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, critical thinking, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
