Aircraft Electrician Job Description

As an Aircraft Electrician in the Army National Guard, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and repairing electrical systems on Army aircraft. This includes diagnosing malfunctions in electrical and electronic components, maintaining electrical/electronic elements of assemblies, and using and maintaining common/special tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic malfunctions
  • Maintain electrical/electronic elements of assemblies
  • Use and maintain common/special tools
  • Prepare requests for turn-ins and repair parts
Requirements:
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements

Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience to enjoy a civilian career with aircraft manufacturers, commercial airlines, and government agencies. You will also have the opportunity to earn a regular paycheck and qualify for tuition assistance.

Job training for Soldiers in the Aircraft Electrician specialty consists of 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training, plus 19 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. During this time, you will learn essential Soldiering skills and refine your Aircraft Electrician abilities in the field and the classroom.
