Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated Human Factors Integration Specialist to enhance system designs by focusing on human performance, safety, and usability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Human Factors Integration Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • User-Centric Design: Collaborate with diverse teams to ensure that system designs and user interfaces are tailored for optimal human interaction, taking into account ergonomics, cognitive load, and user preferences.
  • Requirements Formulation: Engage with stakeholders to establish Human Factors Integration (HFI) requirements and guidelines that align with project goals and compliance standards.
  • Usability Evaluation: Organize and conduct usability assessments and human factors evaluations to identify usability challenges and enhance system design.
  • Interface Development: Contribute to the design of user interfaces, ensuring adherence to HFI best practices and fostering an intuitive user experience.
  • Safety Analysis: Assess the implications of system design on safety and human error, recommending mitigations as needed.
  • Documentation: Produce clear and concise HFI documentation, including reports, recommendations, and design guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Human Factors Engineering and System Safety.
  • Familiarity with System of Systems/Integration Architecture from a Systems Engineering perspective and Human-Machine Interaction.
  • Knowledge of marine safety protocols and regulations is advantageous.
  • Experience in liaison roles such as Systems Integration Lead or similar positions is preferred.
  • Background in complex system integration with a focus on human factors is desirable.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to present engineering designs effectively.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in Human Factors Integration.
  • Expertise in HFI analysis methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on enhancing user experiences.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards and guidelines related to HFI.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position may require occasional domestic travel.
