Job Title: Engagement Reporter

We are seeking a highly skilled Engagement Reporter to join our team at Boston Globe Media Partners. As a key member of our Spotlight Team, you will play a critical role in identifying and hearing from individuals whose stories must be told.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Spotlight tip line and assist in producing our investigative newsletter
  • Harness the power of technology and community to identify and follow up on appealing tips
  • Collaborate closely with reporters and editors, including audience, visual, audio, and video colleagues
  • Assist in efforts to pry loose valuable information, including by filing records requests and developing community contacts

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and at least two years of reporting and writing for a news organization
  • Strong news judgment, with a sharp eye for issues, topics, or trends that demand deeper investigations
  • Digital acumen, including mining Reddit or other platforms for ideas and pitching SEO-minded headlines
  • An accountability mindset, an innate skepticism, and – when needed – a sense of outrage
  • A willingness to adapt and be audience-focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
