Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hyperbaric Technician II to join our team at Tri-City Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating hyperbaric chambers, delivering care to patients, and ensuring the safe and effective treatment of patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to unit-based safety and infection control requirements.
  • Deliver care to patients immediately prior to, during, and after hyperbaric oxygen therapy, consistent with existing policies and within their scope of practice.
  • Monitor patients continually during treatments for symptoms of oxygen intolerance, claustrophobia, hypoglycemic reactions, decompression sickness, or any other adverse reaction to hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
  • Under the direction of the Physician, Hyperbaric Supervisor, Nurse Manager, or designee, intervene appropriately in the event of an adverse reaction and follow established protocols.
  • Document required elements of each treatment in a clear and concise manner, including chamber settings, duration of treatment, patient response to the procedure, and any other relevant observations made.
Requirements
  • Minimum 12 months of recent practical experience in clinical hyperbaric medicine.
  • Working understanding of the codes and regulations that govern the operation of a hyperbaric medicine facility.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of skill in HBO therapy, chamber operations, basic EKG monitoring, and emergency care, taking initiative and working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to complete a two-person lift, wheelchair to exam table or bed to stretcher.
  • Intermediate computer software skills, including word processing and spreadsheet functions.
Education and Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One of the following required: Licensed Respiratory Therapist with current license in good standing, Medical Technician Certification with current certification in good standing, License Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) with current state license in good standing, or Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic or equivalent with certification in good standing.
  • Current BLS certification; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.
  • Hyperbaric Tech Safety Officer certification, preferred.
  • Certification in Hyperbaric Technology.
