The Lead Mold Technician plays a crucial role in the upkeep and preventive servicing of plastic injection molds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in CAD/CAM technologies, capable of programming intricate CNC machining tasks for precision molds.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs on plastic molds and thermal systems.
  • Utilize toolroom machinery, including mills, surface grinders, and lathes, to support mold repair and enhancement.
  • Manage the procurement or replacement of parts, tools, or hardware necessary for maintaining inventory.
  • Set up and operate all hand tools and manual toolroom machines effectively.
  • Collaborate with the internal tooling department for specific operational requirements.
  • Employ toolroom inspection instruments as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Exemplify safe work practices and professional conduct, prioritizing personal and team safety.

Qualifications for the Lead Mold Technician position include:

  • Completion of a state-recognized tool and die apprenticeship (Journeyman certification).
  • Preferred experience with plastic molds.
  • Background in mold repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and reverse engineering.
  • Familiarity with toolroom equipment such as mills, surface grinders, and lathes.
  • Preferred experience with thermal systems.
  • Basic knowledge of the injection molding process, equipment, and materials.
  • Experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures and forklift operation.
