About the Position

The University of Oklahoma is seeking a highly motivated and organized Engagement Associate to join the Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP). This is a full-time, 2-year appointment with the potential for extension pending satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with regional stakeholders to identify climate and weather information needs and develop strategies to improve their planning and operations.
  • Provide event logistical support for meetings, workshops, and a regional conference.
  • Work closely with SCIPP's Climate Assessment Specialist to develop and implement engagement strategies.
  • Build relationships with insurance, real estate, and residential builders industries regarding climate resilience and hazard mitigation.
  • Prepare findings of SCIPP research and engagement activities for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Present SCIPP's work at regional and national meetings as necessary.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to communication, planning, public administration, business, or physical sciences.
  • Exceptional applicants from other disciplines are also encouraged to apply.
  • Well-developed human relations skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Interest in climate resilience-related topics.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, able to multitask, and detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience planning events, including managing or supporting event schedules, booking and negotiating with venues and vendors, managing participant registration, and/or updating website information.
  • Experience creating visual products via Canva, Adobe Illustrator, or other graphic design tools.
Working Conditions
  • Standard office environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Prolonged computer use.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
