Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Aluminum Structural Welder Class A to join our team at Quality Support. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for welding a variety of aluminum configurations, including single-pass and multi-pass fillets, full penetration joint details, and other complex welds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Weld aluminum configurations, including single-pass and multi-pass fillets, full penetration joint details, and other complex welds
  • Work with a sense of urgency, efficiency, and productive output to meet production deadlines
  • Maintain safe work practices and adhere to safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure correct construction procedures are adhered to in compliance with Austal USA standards and project specifications
  • Assist Welders, Fitters, Apprentices, and Trades Assistants with daily tasks as directed
  • Monitor working environment for compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations and report deficiencies to supervisor
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED or two years of maritime experience
  • High level of pride in workmanship
  • Ability to weld in uncomfortable positions where applicable
  • Minimum of 1 year as a B-Class Welder at Austal producing advance fillet welds or 2 years of GMAW MIG aluminum welding experience at a comparable employer
  • Ability to pass A Class skills evaluation test to demonstrate welding ability for full penetration joint details
Working Conditions

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on quality and safety. The successful candidate will be required to work in a team environment, with a strong emphasis on communication and collaboration. The physical demands of the job include prolonged standing, bending, squatting, and climbing, as well as the ability to work at heights above 12' while working from ladders, scaffolding, and/or man lifts.
