Job Summary:

The State of Tennessee is seeking a highly skilled Comptroller - Financial Services Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Financial Institutions Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and soundness of Tennessee's financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and submit reports on reviews of large, complex, and troubled banks to assess financial viability and compliance with governing regulations.
  • Assess asset quality and various operational functions such as capital, earnings, liquidity, sensitivity to market risk, audit, securities, data governance, model risk management, enterprise risk management, subsidiary operations, and affiliate operations.
  • Coordinate or oversee specialty examinations such as Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering /Countering the Financing of Terrorism, Trust, and Information Technology.
  • Effectively scope each phase of the supervisory/examination plan to ensure the appropriate risks are identified.
  • Develop formal plans and programs to address deficiencies and risks.
  • Oversee analysis of new service or branch applications to determine if risks are appropriately evaluated.
  • Assist on special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge and an informed position of bank operations, including economic and financial trends.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, and/or other related field with a minimum of five years of bank examination experience with a federal or state regulator. A minimum of nine hours of accounting or finance required. Successful completion of all core bank examination schools required.

Work Environment:

This position may require extensive statewide travel and may require out-of-state travel for training and development, as well as possible examination work.
