Position: Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer - (Contract)

Location: Remote

Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer to become an integral part of their team on a long-term contract. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in crafting and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IAC).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comprehend the technological vision and strategic direction aligned with business objectives.
  • Formulate product roadmaps that align with other data initiatives and organizational goals.
  • Architect integrated solutions adhering to design patterns, blueprints, guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Engage in defining technical specifications that facilitate data analytics within an AWS cloud framework.
  • Contribute to the development of architectural and design conceptual solutions by integrating cloud-native and third-party vendor technologies.
  • Analyze current and future states, defining key outcomes for an IT data platform strategy.
  • Conduct research and execute proofs of concept (POCs) with emerging technologies, adopting industry best practices for advancing the cloud data platform.
  • Exhibit automation through Infrastructure as Code to enhance build efficiency in the cloud environment.
  • Create scripts to unify multiple data sources within the data and analytics platform.
  • Establish a platform that supports rehydration and high availability.
  • Implement end-to-end automation to sustain and maintain software currency.
  • Develop automation services for builds utilizing Terraform, Python, and shell scripting.
  • Establish validation and certification processes through automation tools.
  • Create multi-layered scripts for build, installation, configuration, patching, regression testing, and rollback in various environments.
  • Integrate platforms to create a cohesive data mesh, promoting data democratization.
  • Develop a patching strategy to compare different versions of configuration settings.
  • Provide expert consulting and guidance on business solution development in the data and analytics domain and cloud technologies.
  • Exhibit leadership, collaboration, and exceptional communication skills to foster consensus and deliver optimal solutions.
  • Encourage collaboration across business and IT sectors.
Qualifications:
  • Strong business acumen to understand and anticipate organizational priorities.
  • Proficient in using GitLab for building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in writing IAC code with Terraform for deploying AWS resources.
  • Familiarity with AWS services including EC2, IAM, Lambda, KMS, and Route 53.
  • Proficient in writing Unix Shell scripts.
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies and capable of working in an Agile environment.
  • Robust background in application development.
  • Experience with AWS EKS.
  • Demonstrates respect, embraces diversity, and acts with authenticity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and building data services encompassing all aspects of cloud design, development, and implementation.
  • 3+ years of full-stack development experience, including application, API, testing, and automation using at least one of the following languages: Terraform, JSON, Python.
  • 3+ years of experience in designing, building, and supporting solutions hosted on-premises or in the cloud, with experience in migrating data to the cloud.
  • Knowledge of cloud-specific solutions related to gateways, streaming services, or file and database migration services.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more programming languages.
  • Experience with various AWS data-related services, including compute and storage offerings.
  • Familiarity with RDS, NoSQL databases, RDBMS, and in-memory databases.
  • Experience with data catalogs such as Collibra, Alation, IBM IGC, and Informatica is preferred.
  • Understanding of data structures, networking, performance, and scalability.
