The Cloud Native Container Solutions Engineer will engage in the evaluation and exploration of systems and networks. This role entails a thorough review of intricate business and technical specifications to propose effective technical solutions. You will be tasked with the Platform Engineering of diverse Cloud Native Kubernetes environments such as EKS, GKE, AKS, and OpenShift at an Enterprise Scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop robust Enterprise container platforms utilizing Cloud Native Kubernetes distributions like EKS, GKE, AKS, and OpenShift to achieve compliance with FedRAMP high and IL4+ standards.
  • Design Blueprints to standardize Control Plane, Node Pool, and Addons across all Kubernetes distributions employing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.
  • Apply GitOps principles to centralize cluster provisioning and manage the lifecycle of operations.
  • Provide Kubernetes-native CI/CD tools including Tekton, ArgoCD, Flux, Flagger, or Argo Rollout.
  • Implement policy engines like OPA Gatekeeper or Kyverno to uphold container best practices such as CIS Benchmarks and other organizational guidelines.
  • Automate Namespace vending through GitOps and enforce multi-tenancy best practices within the cluster.
  • Establish a container observability stack incorporating Prometheus, Grafana, Fluentd, Splunk, Istio/Linkerd, and Datadog across all clusters.
  • Deploy container cost visibility and optimization tools like KubeCost, Cloudability, Goldilocks, or Harness across the clusters.
  • Design and implement various Ingress controllers, load balancers, and network policies to fulfill diverse enterprise application requirements.
  • Integrate various security tools on container platforms such as Vault and Twistlock/Wiz to enhance application security.
  • Manage container registries including Quay, ECR, Artifact registry, ACR, etc.
  • Enforce software supply chain best practices such as image signing, SBOMs, and Binary authorization.
  • Develop intricate solutions based on business requirements and architectural guidelines; contribute to setting or modifying architectural specifications.
  • Create presentations and seek management approval for significant system replacements or reconfigurations serving the enterprise.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement based on targeted or ongoing assessments.
  • Participate in enterprise planning activities, including vendor evaluations, technology platform selection and retirement, prioritization, and integration; frequently act as a subject matter expert for executive management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 10 years of experience in information systems, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development, and management; significant experience across multiple technical and business disciplines is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory for this position.
  • A Security Clearance issued by the Department of Defense is required for this role.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of FedRamp High and IL4+ certification requirements for containerization in GovCloud.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with multiple Kubernetes platforms such as EKS, GKE, AKS, and OpenShift.
  • 3 years of practical experience in designing and developing applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience with automation scripting using Python, Terraform, Ansible, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Proficient in using Ingress controllers like ALB ingress controller, Nginx, Envoy, Contour, etc.
  • Expertise in service mesh frameworks like Istio.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD for container workloads using Jenkins, ArgoCD, or Tekton.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including cloud engineering, networking, and cloud security.
  • Cloud certifications on AWS, GCP, and Azure are advantageous.
  • Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKD, or CKS are a plus.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to mentor and guide junior developers.
