Position Overview:
The Clinical Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering clinical assistance within an outpatient vascular medical office. This position involves working closely with clinical leadership to ensure optimal care for vascular patients.
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, reporting operationally to the Office Manager and clinically to the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care Support:
- Deliver empathetic patient care and support during office visits.
- Prepare examination rooms for patient procedures while ensuring a sterile environment.
- Adhere to accreditation standards and maintain accurate documentation.
- Record patient vital signs and assist in maintaining comprehensive medical records.
- Support healthcare providers during patient consultations and procedures.
Operational Assistance:
- Aid in scheduling patient appointments and maintaining effective communication for appointment confirmations.
- Manage patient medical information, including health history and insurance details.
- Oversee inventory management and supply stocking.
- Handle incoming calls and ensure timely follow-up with patients as necessary.
- Conduct cleaning and sterilization of medical equipment.
- Ensure proper disposal of medical waste in line with facility protocols.
- Prepare examination areas and assist physicians and clinical staff as required.
- Provide coverage until the clinic closes or the last patient has departed.
- Uphold HIPAA regulations and maintain compliance databases.
- Complete additional projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and certification as a Medical Assistant.
- BLS certification required.
- Strong proficiency in administrative functions.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in a surgical setting.
- Flexibility to accommodate local and/or regional assignments as necessary.
- Basic knowledge of clinical procedures.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail.
