Our satellites, designed for geostationary orbit (GEO), weigh just 400 kg and feature a unique software-defined radio payload. Each satellite has the capacity to connect millions of users, and we are eager to expand our impact in regions such as the Philippines, Peru, and Mexico.

Position: Software Developer Intern, Network/Payload Software

Internships at Astranis are typically structured for a duration of twelve weeks, offering hourly roles for students currently enrolled in a four-year university.

As an intern, you will have the unique opportunity to tackle challenging problems — we are committed to ensuring that every team member at Astranis engages in impactful work on significant projects, irrespective of their experience level. Many previous interns have contributed to the design and testing of hardware/software destined for space, with numerous alumni now thriving as full-time team members at Astranis.

If you have already completed your degree, we encourage you to apply for an Associate Engineer position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design, develop, and validate software for satellites, ground control, and testing applications.
  • Create software solutions to monitor and optimize satellite performance from Ground Stations.
Qualifications
  • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Aerospace, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in C++, Python, and relevant scripting languages.
  • Proven ability to independently design, develop, and validate software solutions.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Green Card required.
  • Availability to work onsite in San Francisco at least three days a week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RF and Signal Processing.
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems.

Compensation

The base pay for this position is $29.00 per hour.
