ROLE OVERVIEW
As a member of the Health Care Team within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, you will play a vital role in delivering quality care to the offender population. Practical Nursing Specialists will utilize clinical nursing expertise, conduct hands-on evaluations, and support practitioners and registered nurses on a daily basis. Responsibilities include assisting with initial assessments, administering medications, responding to health care emergencies, and performing physical health evaluations.
In addition, you will ensure compliance with departmental standards during inspections, engage in ongoing training, and may provide health-related education to both staff and offenders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
This is a full-time position, requiring a 40-hour work week. The department operates on three shifts to provide continuous coverage: 1st shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, 2nd shift from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, and 3rd shift from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am. Specific work hours will be determined based on operational needs. This role is eligible for comprehensive retirement benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Special Requirements:
Active authorization to practice as a Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania is required. All employees with a temporary practice permit must obtain full licensure within one year as mandated by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements:
Currently, the residency requirement for Pennsylvania is waived for this position. Candidates nearing completion of an approved practical nursing program are encouraged to apply. Proof of possession of a valid temporary practice permit or Practical Nurse license is required at the time of appointment.

A background investigation must be successfully completed.
